Rare and Fine Small-Sized Redware Presentation Bowl, Inscribed "Annie Haines / 1887," probably Philadelphia, PA origin, 1887, with footed base, rounded sides and tooled shoulder, the exterior incised in large script, "Anne Haines / 1887," flanked by scrolled flourishes. Mottled yellow slip coating to interior and manganese slip runs to exterior and interior, all under a heavy lead glaze. This bowl can be viewed as a Philadelphia revival piece as its inscribed date is surprisingly later than most examples of this form and glaze known. Typically, pieces of this style are excavated in fragments from late 18th century Philadelphia privies. Very nice condition with some wear to rim and light wear to interior base. H 2 7/8" ; Diam. 6".
