Three-Gallon Stoneware Churn with Cobalt Paddletail Bird Decoration, Stamped "N.A. WHITE & SON, / UTICA, N.Y.," circa 1885, semi-ovoid churn with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a brushed and slip-trailed design of a crested bird with paddle-shaped tail, perched on a flowering vine. Staining to surface. A thin 8 1/2" Y-shaped line to left of bird, a few minor rim chips, wear to inner rim for lid, and staining. H 15 1/4".
