Glazed Redware Jar, Stamped "J. BELL," John Bell, Waynesboro, PA, circa 1840, highly-ovoid jar with coved rim, the surface covered in a reddish-brown lead-and-manganese glaze. Shoulder impressed with early John Bell maker's mark. Includes tin lid. A shallow 7/8" rim chip beside a small rim chip. Minor rim wear. A thin 2 1/4" crack from rim on side of jar, including a minor nick out of base of rim. Light surface wear around midsection. A small base chip. H (excluding lid) 7 3/8".
