Two Pieces of Central PA Stoneware with Cobalt Decoration, circa 1865-1875, a one-gallon, semi-ovoid jug with brushed tulip motif, stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG, PA," circa 1865; paired with a two-gallon cylindrical jar with brushed hanging tulip motif, stamped "EVAN R. JONES / PITTSTON, PA," circa 1875. cylindrical jug with semi-squared spout, decorated with a brushed tulip motif. Jug with a 1 1/2" base chip on reverse, probably in-the-firing, and two very minor glazed-over chips and minor post-firing nick to spout. Jar with two small chips to one handle, a minor in-the-firing ping to front, a tiny flake to reverse, two in-the-making score marks to rim, some staining to front, and a sliver-shaped flake to interior.
