Large-Sized Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Inkwell, attributed to Nathan Clark, Athens, NY, circa 1830, cylindrical from with central, tapering ink hole surrounded by three smaller quill holes, the exterior embellished with three rows of coggled circle decoration. Brushed leaf decoration around midsection and top, the top edge decorated with brushed swags. A thin top-to-bottom crack on side of inkwell, which also extends across underside. Some light bubbling to cobalt on top. The following very minor flaws: minor wear to small vent hole in top of inkwell, a tiny inverted U-shaped line to rim of central ink hole, a 5/16" horizontal line to outer rim of inkwell, and a tiny nick to outer rim of inkwell.
