Two-Gallon Brooklyn, NY Stoneware Advertising Jar with Cobalt Bird Decoration, attributed to Cornelius Vaupel, Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NY, circa 1880, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder flared collar, and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a crested bird perched on a stylized branch. Impressed above with the elaborate, cobalt-highlighted advertising, "A. COHEN / DEALER IN CHINA / GLASS & CROCKERY / 673 FULTON ST & / 207 COURT ST / BROOKLYN". Some spots of fry to cobalt. A shallow 7/8" rim chip. Nicks and wear to inner rim for lid. Some light staining to surface. H 12 5/8".
