Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar, Stenciled "HAMILTON & JONES. / MANUFACTURERS / GREENSBORO / PA.," circa 1875, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded rim, decorated with stenciled shield surrounding Hamilton & Jones maker's stenciling above a wreath. Freehand stripes to shoulder and base. Stenciled "2" with flourishes at base. As-made condition with some light fry to cobalt. Jar is slightly out-of-round. H 11 7/8".
