Outstanding Ten-Gallon Stoneware Water Cooler with Cobalt Tree Decoration, OH origin, mid 19th century, keg-form cooler with octagonal bunghole, cobalt-decorated with a brushed folk art tree featuring circular and star-shaped growths at the end of the branches, all applied over a slip-coated surface. Decorated above with a series of three stylized flower blossoms. Cobalt dash to top edge and highlight to bunghole. Outstanding size and imaginative decoration. Excellent condition with some wear to bunghole, some in-the-firing spalling to cobalt, and salt drips to surface. H 21 1/2".
