Scarce Anna Pottery Stoneware Frog Inkwell, Signed "Anna Pottery / 1879," Wallace and Cornwall Kirkpatrick, Anna, IL, 1879, wheel-thrown inkwell with carved opening, surmounted by a large hand-modeled frog with incised details and impressed eyes. Base incised "Anna Pottery 1879." Salt-glazed surface with traces of original green paint. Frog appears to be slightly larger than most that we have seen. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, which recently surfaced in New York State. Excellent condition with a tiny chip to one toe. H 3 1/2" ; Diam. (of base) 2 1/2".
