Four-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, Akron, OH origin, circa 1865, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, squared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a brushed "4" flanked by tornado-shaped brushwork above a freehand X. Reverse with painted date "1868." A few in-the-firing base chips to reverse. A minor in-the-firing nick to rim. H 14 1/2".
