Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Bird Decoration, NJ or New England origin, circa 1840, cylindrical jar with rounded shoulder, flared collar, and applied lug handles, decorated with a brushed and slip-trailed design of a spotted bird with turned head, atop a stylized ground with drape motif. Two adjacent reglued pieces at rim, measuring a total of 2 3/8". A 1 1/2" reglued chip to front of rim, which includes a glazed-over ping. Some fry to cobalt. H 10 5/8".
