Rare Slip-Decorated Redware Jug, Inscribed "RAR," North American, mid to late 19th century, ovoid jug with tooled shoulder, cylindrical spot, and heavily-ribbed handle, the lead-glazed surface decorated with spattered manganese and the brushed initials, "RAR," over cream-colored slip. A strikingly-decorated example. Shallow chips and wear to spout. A few glaze flakes to handle. H 8 1/2".
