Fine Large-Sized Redware Loaf Dish with Elaborate Slip Decoration, Philadelphia, PA origin, early 19th century, with coggled edge, the interior decorated in yellow slip with three groups of wavy trails interspersed with swag-like devices, all under a clear lead glaze. Exceptional size with unusually deep form, surviving in rarely-found immaculate condition. Among the finest Philadelphia loaf dishes that we have offered. Provenance: Sotheby's.
