Fine Six-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, possibly George Debolt, New Geneva or Fredericktown, PA, circa 1850-1860, semi-ovoid jar with combed banding to midsection, tooled shoulder, tapered rim, and applied lug handles. Decorated with an undulating vine bearing open-centered tulips and graduated swags. Inverted graduated swag decoration to collar. Handle terminals decorated with stylized tulip blossoms. Provenance: From a fifty-year private collection. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with a 1 3/8" in-the-firing chip to bottom edge, other small in-the-firing chips to bottom edge, and a small in-the-firing stone ping near base on front. H 16".
