Three-Gallon Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jar, attributed to Edward Stone, Buncombe County, NC, circa 1845, thinly-potted ovoid jar with short, flaring rim and arched tab handles, decorated with a streaky green alkaline glaze. Incised "3" on shoulder. Provenance: A South Carolina private collection. Very nice condition with a 1 1/2" crack from rim and a minor rim nick. H 14".
