Rare Vassar College Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Vase, Signed "Turner J.E. / June 4 '95," Vassar College, Poughkeepsie, NY, 1895, cylindrical form with flared base and coggled foot, incised throughout with various cobalt-highlighted signatures of graduates of the Class of 1895 from Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY. Front with deeply-incised and cobalt-highlight decoration, including the initials, "C.M" above a bow and locket, inscribed "'95". Front base of vase incised with the cobalt-highlighted inscription, "A Posse Ad Esse, which translates to "From Possibility to Actuality." Underside incised Turner J.E. / June 4 '95." Interior coated in Albany slip. Excellent, essentially as-made condition. H 6 5/8".
