Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "C.W. BRAUN / BUFFALO N.Y.," circa 1870, squat-shaped jar with tooled shoulder, flared collar, and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a flowering plant with large and small blossoms and striped leaves. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. A tight spider crack on underside, forming a Y-shaped line at base on reverse and a short line at base on right side of jar. A minor chip to one handle. Other very minor wear to handles. A 5/8" chip to interior of rim. A small in-the-firing contact mark near base on left side of jar.
