Fine Shenandoah Valley Multi-Glazed Redware Cream Jar, Stamped "S. BELL & SON. / STRASBURG," VA origin, circa 1890, ovoid jar with tooled rim, the surface decorated with splashed copper and manganese over cream-colored slip and covered in a clear lead glaze. Impressed with S. Bell & Sons maker's mark at shoulder. Very nice condition with some small spots of wear to rim, a small glazed-over chip to rim, a 1" in-the-firing contact mark to one side, some short, faint lines to base, and minor surface wear. H 8" ; Diam. (across top) 7 3/4".
