Two Pieces of Buffalo, NY Advertising Stoneware, Buffalo, NY origin, circa 1840, a one-gallon ovoid jug with freehand cobalt "1-," impressed with the cobalt-highlighted advertising, "LUCIUS H PRATT / WHOLESALE & RETAIL DEALER IN / GROCERIES PAINTS OILS / GLASS & DYE STUFFS. / No 210 MAIN STREET BUFFALO;" paired with a two-gallon ovoid jar, impressed with the cobalt-highlighted advertising, "LUCIUS H PRATT / WHOLESALE & RETAIL / DEALER IN / GROCERIES.&PAINTS / MAIN STREET / BUFFALO. N,Y,." Jug in excellent condition with two minor base chips to underside at edge as well as some small in-the-firing flaws to surface, which include a small bloated spot to front and a small in-the-firing chip to handle. Jar in excellent condition with staining to surface, primarily on reverse, and water glass staining to interior.
