Two-Gallon "SWEET OIL" Stoneware Jug with Elaborate Albany, NY Advertising, Albany, NY origin, circa 1840, cylindrical jug with semi-rounded spout, impressed with the extensive and unusual advertising, "SWEET OIL / SOLD BY / WHARTON & HALL. / IMPORTERS & WHOLESALE / DEALERS IN DRUGS MEDICINES / PAINTS OILS DYEWOODS &C / 94 SOUTH-MARKET STREET / ALBANY." An early cork as affixed inside the jug's spout. An inverted Y-shaped crack to base area. Residue (possibly the jug's "sweet oil") to spout and seeping from the inverted Y-shaped crack at base. Some glazed-over chipping to base.
