Fine Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Iron-Oxide Decoration, Stamped "BOSTON. / 1804," Frederick Carpenter, Charlestown, MA, circa 1804, ovoid jar with heavily-tooled shoulder, open loop handles, and footed base, decorated at the top and bottom with dipped iron-oxide decoration. Stately form with heavy iron application and desirable "1804" stamp. A long, thin Y-shaped crack extending from underside to shoulder on front. Otherwise excellent condition with typical in-the-firing iron pings to surface.
