Two Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Batter Pails, Binghamton, NY origin, circa 1870, both of similar ovoid form with tubular pouring spout and wood-and-wire bail handles; an unsigned four-quart example with slip-trailed flowering vine motif, inscribed "4;" paired with a six-quart example with cobalt highlights, stamped "W. ROBERTS / BINGHAMTON. N.Y." Unsigned example with shallow chipping around interior of rim and other small chips elsewhere. Signed batterpail with chips to spout, shallow chips to interior of rim, and black residue to base.
