Unusual Four-Gallon Salt-Glazed Stoneware Jar, Southern U.S. origin, possibly Vestal Family, Washington County, VA, mid 19th century, highly-ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, semi-squared rim, and inverted-U-shaped handles. Incised "4" at shoulder. Provenance: Previously acquired from a resident of the town of Floyd in Floyd County, VA. Excellent condition with a shallow chip to one handle and some light surface wear.
