Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Elaborate Cobalt Decoration, Stenciled "THOMPSON WILLIAMS & / CO. / MORGANTOWN. / W. VA.," circa 1875, semi-ovoid jar with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded rim, featuring Thompson Williams & Co. maker' stenciling surrounding two freehand number 2's. Freehand stripe decoration to shoulder and base. Base with additional freehand "2" flanked by dashes. Very nice condition with some light circumferential surface wear and a 1 7/8" salt drip to reverse.
