Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Bean Pot with Lid, Sand Mountain, AL origin, third quarter 19th century, ovoid jar with flared rim and applied handle, the surface covered in a pale-green alkaline glaze. A faint, hand-incised marking resembling a "7" or sideways "A" appears beside the handle on reverse. Includes lightly-glazed, fitting lid, possibly original to the pot. Pot and lid in excellent, essentially as-made condition. H (excluding lid) 9".
