Three Cobalt-Stenciled Stoneware Jars, Western PA origin, circa 1875, a cylindrical jar, stenciled "JAMES HAMILTON & CO / GREENSBORO, / PA.;" a cylindrical jar, stenciled "JAS. HAMILTON / & CO. / GREENSBORO, / PA.;" and a canning jar with "wax sealer" rim and stenciled Federal eagle motif, holding a banner in its beak, inscribed "STAR," Hamilton & Jones, Greensboro, PA. Smallest with an in-the-firing chip to front and a filled hole in underside. Eagle jar with top-to-bottom sealed crack and all-over painted restoration, surrounding the eagle. H (of eagle jar) 8 3/4".
