Rare Stoneware Bank with Incised Bird Decoration, Inscribed "G.F.," Ohio origin, mid to late 19th century, beehive-form with small finial and carved coin slot, the surface covered in a dark Albany slip glaze and decorated with an incised design of a bird perched on a leaf, flanked by branches. Incised "G.F." above. A recent note on the underside reads, "MADE FOR GERTRUDE FISHEL (SISTER) IN REVENNA(sic), OHIO. TOLD by VICTOR FISHEL 97 yrs. of AGE. / 8-21-85". Excellent, essentially as-made condition. H 5".
