Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "H. SMITH & Co.", Alexandria, VA origin, circa 1825, ovoid jar with semi-rounded rim and applied tab handles, decorated with a brushed design of a sunflower, featuring leaves emanating from its stem and blossom. Reverse decorated with a series of foliate devices below a row of chain links. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Jar is broken into sections and reglued. A crude restoration to one handle. A flake to underside along edge. A few minor base chips.
