Four-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Paddletail Bird Decoration, Stamped "N.A. WHITE & SON, / UTICA, N.Y.", circa 1885, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a brushed and slip-trailed design of a crested bird with paddle-shaped tail, perched on a flowering vine. Very nice condition with some flecks of staining to reverse, a shallow flake to bottom edge on front (possibly in-the-firing), and some very minor wear to cobalt.
