One-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Butter Crock with Lid, Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1875, cylindrical crock with squared rim and applied tab handles, decorated on the front and reverse with a brushed flower emanating from a leafy stem. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Includes a loosely-fitting Baltimore stoneware lid with daubed cobalt decoration, impressed "3" on underside, designed for a three-gallon crock. Crock with a small chip to each handle and a tiny chip to interior of rim. Lid with a 1 3/4" chip to flange on underside, other smaller chips to flange, and two short lines to flange.
