Rare and Fine Shenandoah Valley Glazed Redware Cream Pitcher, Stamped "A W BACHER / WINCHESTER, VA.", circa 1880, ovoid pitcher with flared collar, pronounced triangular spout, and applied strap handle, the surface decorated with cream-colored slip and splashed manganese under a clear lead glaze. The firing of this pitcher resulted in appealing and unusual coloration to the surface, olive with cream-green highlights and reddish-brown spattering throughout. Underside impressed with Anthony Bacher maker's mark. Desirable maker and form, potted in an exceptional size. Rim and spout chips. Otherwise excellent condition. H 5".
