Rare Anna Pottery Salt-Glazed Stoneware Pedestal Base with Molded Angel Handles and Crimped Ornamentation, Wallace and Cornwall Kirkpatrick, Anna, IL, circa 1885, wheel-thrown pedestal base with open, rounded top separated crimped embellishments, the sides fitted with molded angel's heads flanked by wings. Angels' wings and hair hand-incised with deep scoring in the manner of the Kirkpatricks applied-floral vases and the skirt of the brothers' famous "shoo fly" jugs. Interior embellished with a circular series of impressed thumbprints around the central opening. Large vertical cracks extending several inches from base. A long horizontal spider line to tapered base. A 3 7/8" flake to base. A small chip to exterior of rim. Several chips to interior of rim. Both angels with loss to nose and two other minor chips elsewhere. Some shallow chipping to crimping. H 12 1/2".
