Possibly Unique Stoneware Spittoon with Freehand Shield Decoration, probably Henry Remmey, Jr., Baltimore or Philadelphia, circa 1830, cylindrical form with footed base and oval opening at shoulder, decorated around the body with six cobalt shields, including one Federal shield with the stripes of the American flag. Several cracks in underside, one of which travels up side of spittoon and continues across top. Two base chips and one rim chip. H 4 3/8" ; Diameter 7 1/4".
