Monumental Eight-Gallon Stoneware Churn with Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to David Parr, Jr., Richmond, VA, circa 1860, cylindrical form with tooled shoulder, large rounded collar, and applied lug handles, decorated on the front and reverse with two large brushed tulip motifs. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Desirable form and exceptional size. The largest Parr churn from Richmond that we have ever offered. Excellent, essentially as-made condition. Tight cracks in underside extending horizontally onto base and several inches up body of churn in multiple places. H 19 3/4".
