Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Butter Crock, Stamped "JOHN BELL / WAYNESBORO'", PA origin, circa 1850-1880, cylindrical crock with footed base, squared rim, and applied lug handles, the surface dipped in a whitish slip and decorated on the front and reverse with brushed cobalt swags. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. A top-to-bottom crack on one side, continuing across underside, and 2" diagonally up opposite side. H 4 1/2" ; Diameter 7 1/2".
