Rare Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Lion Doorstop, Stamped "HP Co", Hawthorne Pottery Company, Hawthorne, Clarion County, PA, late 19th or early 20th century, molded figure of a lion with incised paws, reclining on a slab base with scalloped edge. Surface covered in a white Bristol slip glaze and decorated with brushed cobalt highlights. Impressed "HP Co" on top of base. Loss to corner of base and a few other lesser base chips. Wear to mane. L 9 1/2".
