Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Impressed Hearts Decoration, Stamped "CHARLESTOWN" Frederick Carpenter, Charlestown, MA, circa 1812-1827, ovoid jug with tooled shoulder and rounded spout, decorated on the shoulder with two impressed hearts below the mark, "CHARLESTOWN". Base with dipped reddish-brown iron oxide decoration, A horizontal hairline to handle. A 1 1/4" in-the-firing iron ping to shoulder. A second, small iron ping to shoulder. A minor iron ping to base. An approximately 3 1/2" hairline to spout area, connecting to an area of in-the-firing crazing at shoulder.
