Rare One-Gallon Stoneware Bowl with Cobalt Foliate Decoration, Stamped "W.H. CRISMAN / STRASBURG, VA", circa 1883-1885, tapered bowl with squared rim and applied tab handles, decorated on each side with two hanging flower blossom motifs. Impressed with scarce Crisman maker's mark under one handle. Desirable form and maker. A base chip. A faint 4 1/2" line on underside, continuing 2 1/4" up base, extending through a shallow base chip. A few small chips to top of rim. Shallow chipping along bottom edge of rim.
