Rare Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "A. KEISTER & .CO / STRASBURG .VA.", circa 1850, ovoid jar with tall collar and ribbed lug handles, decorated on the front and reverse with a brushed floral motif featuring three open-centered blossoms. Impressed under one handle with Adam Keister maker's mark below a raised-face two-gallon capacity mark. Small chips to exterior of rim. A 3" Y-shaped surface line near base below one handle. Some minor, in-the-firing surface chipping to shoulder.
