Fine and Scarce Glazed Redware Vase, Stamped "JOHN BELL", Waynesboro, PA origin, circa 1840-1880, ovoid vase with flaring to base and rim, the exterior surface covered in a glossy, black lead-and-manganese glaze. Interior surface covered in a clear lead glaze over an orange ground. Underside impressed with "JOHN BELL" maker's mark. This vase exemplifies Bell's ability at producing sophisticated glazes that rivaled his contemporaries. Very nice condition with some scratches to glaze. H 7 1/4".
