Extremely Rare Pair of Miniature Stoneware Crocks with Cobalt Vine Motifs, attributed to Nathan Clark, Sr., Mount Morris, NY, circa 1845, each of cylindrical form with semi-rounded rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a matching brushed design of an undulating vine, culminating in a leaf. Albany slip glazed interior. The distinctive leaf motif on this pair leads to a firm attribution to Nathan Clark, Sr.'s Mt. Morris, NY operation. The finest unmarked lot of Mount Morris stoneware that we have ever offered, noteworthy as a pair of exceptional size. Both in essentially as-made condition. One with a glazed-over ping to reverse.
