One-and-a-Half-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Alexandria, VA Advertising, Greensboro, PA origin, circa 1875, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded rim, featuring the stenciled cobalt advertising, "E.J. MILLER & SON. / DEALERS IN / CHINA AND / GLASS WARE. / ALEXANDRIA. VA.". Freehand stripes to shoulder area. Base with freehand "1 1/2" flanked by flourishes. Excellent condition with some staining to surface. An approximately 5" faint vertical line, extending through a small filled and colored surface chip or possible hole. Traces of water glass or old gray paint to interior.
