Four-Gallon Double-Handled Stoneware Jug with Alkaline Glaze, Southern U.S. origin, late 19th century, wheel-thrown, cylindrical jug with rounded shoulder and two applied open handles, the surface covered in a mottled olive alkaline glaze. Unusual form, modeled after the shoulder jug style. Large spout chips. In-the-firing bloated spots to surface. A minor chip to one handle. H 18".
