Extremely Rare One-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Flower Face Decoration, Stamped "T.G. DAUB, / EASTON, PA", late 19th century, cylindrical jar with rounded shoulder and flared collar, decorated with a brushed design of a sunflower with stylized face on interior. Brushed cobalt highlight to maker's mark and capacity mark. This jar is the first example of Daub stoneware that we have seen with a face included into his classic sunflower motif. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, consigned from Washington State. Excellent condition with a 2" hairline from rim on side of jar, some tiny nicks to interior of rim, and a few tiny base nicks. H 11 7/8".
