Three-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, Stamped "S.H. SONNER / STRASBURG, VA", circa 1870, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder and squared rim, decorated on the front and reverse with a three-petaled floral motif. Cobalt dashes to handle terminals and underneath each handle. Impressed under one handle with S.H. Sonner maker's mark below a three-gallon capacity mark. Staining to surface. Heavy chipping to base. A 2" rim chip and other small rim chips. Base chips.
