Rare Three-Gallon Stoneware Churn with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "SAWYER & SMITH / AKRON, O.", mid 19th century, semi-ovoid churn with tooled shoulder, squared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated on the reverse with a brushed tulip featuring spotted leaves and wavy stem and stamen. Front with cobalt-highlighted "SAWYER & SMITH / AKRON, O." maker's mark and three-gallon capacity mark. Chips to interior of rim. Wear around inner rim for lid. Minor chips to exterior of rim. A minor nick to each handle. A few typical in-the-firing flaws to surface.
