Half-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Stenciling, Western PA origin, circa 1875, ovoid jar with semi-rounded rim, decorated with a banner of X-shaped stenciling above an unusual stenciled "1/2". Provenance: From an over forty-year private collection. A 1 1/2" hairline from rim. A thin 2" crack on underside, continuing 3 3/4" up side of jar. A thin sealed 3 1/2" crack from rim on reverse.
