Three-Gallon Lidded Stoneware Jar with Iron-Oxide Decoration, Stamped "BOSTON", Frederick Carpenter, Boston, MA, early 19th century, highly-ovoid jar with coggled shoulder and dipped iron-oxide slip decoration, the shoulder impressed "BOSTON" below a three-gallon capacity mark. Includes a fitting salt-glazed stoneware lid of unknown Northeastern U.S. origin. Provenance: Harmer Rooke Galleries, New York, NY. Various firing flaws to surface including iron pings and surface chips. Small base chips. Heavy chipping and a thin crack to lid.
