Very Rare Glazed Redware Canning Jar, Impressed with Raised-Face Mark "I. BELL," possibly Winchester, VA origin, circa 1825, cylindrical jar with splayed foot, inward tapering shoulder, and short collar, the surface covered in a reddish-brown lead-and-manganese glaze. Impressed on underside with John Bell's earliest maker's mark, which reads "I. BELL" in raised lettering. Wear to rim. Some scratches to surface. Four tight lines from rim, the longest measuring 2 1/2". H 7 5/8".
