Small-Sized Stoneware Jug with Incised Bird Decoration, Northeastern U.S. origin, circa 1830, ovoid jug with tooled spout, decorated with an incised design of a bird perched on a stylized branch, beside a small incised foliate motif. Jug includes 20th century painted wooden carving of a bird with metal legs in cork stopper. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with some in-the-firing crazing to reverse and a small iron ping next to bird. H 9 3/4".
